Carl Dussault
Founder & CEO
In 2017 Carl founded Evovest with the ambition to provide asset management services applying artificial intelligence and evolutive learning techniques. He guides and supports the team to achieve a differentiated alpha source by combining investment expertise with machine learning for equity products, while heading the business strategy. Before launching Evovest, Carl was an Associate Portfolio Manager at Intact (2012-2017) and an Investment Advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns (2008-2011). Carl holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (B.B.A.) Finance and a master’s degree in Finance from HEC Montréal. He is also a CFA charterholder (2015).
Thierry Claveau
Portfolio Manager
Thierry is Portfolio Manager at Evovest. He is responsible for the trading life cycle, from trade generation to execution. Additionally, he collaborates on portfolio construction, investment research, and risk management projects. Prior to joining Evovest in May 2023, Thierry served as an Associate Director of Portfolio Construction at Trans-Canada Capital, where he focused on managing a $1B+ Global Macro Hedge Fund and a $20B+ Pension Fund. He also worked as an Associate Portfolio Manager at Ipsol Capital, managing quantitative global equity investment strategies. Thierry holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Université de Sherbrooke, a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics and a Master’s degree in Mathematical and Computational Finance from the Université de Montréal. He is also a CAIA (2017) and CIM (2017) charterholder.
Benoit Robert
Head of Business Development
Benoit is Head of Business Development at Evovest. He guides and supports the firm to achieve the awareness of the products and services. Combining his strong relationships and experience in the financial markets, he develops the network of clients. Benoit joined Evovest in 2019. Prior to joining Evovest, he was one of the founding members of Newcrest Capital, which was bought by TD in 2000. In addition, he was managing director at TD Securities, facilitating trading and financing for publicly listed companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from HEC Montreal.
Guillaume Beauregard
COO & CCO
Guillaume is Chief Operating and Compliance Officer at Evovest. He performs the regulatory controls and maintain a culture of compliance within the firm. Additionally, he oversees the operations of the business and ensure a smooth processing of the whole trade lifecycle. He acts as the point of contact with regulatory agencies and different third parties. Guillaume joined Evovest in 2018. Prior to joining the team, Guillaume was part of the Portfolio Analysis Investment Support team at PSP Investments (2014- 2017). Guillaume holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (B.B.A.) from HEC Montreal. He is also a CFA charterholder (2016).
Jérémie Desgagne-Bouchard
Head of Science
Jérémie has a wealth of experience in innovative technologies, including machine learning. He joined Evovest following his work as an applied research scientist at Element AI, where he expanded his deep learning acumen. He spent over 8 years at Intact in various R&D roles, where he pushed the development of analytical solutions in various areas, including assessment price optimization and telematics. He also has consulting experience at Willis Towers Watson, providing pragmatic solutions to clients. His role evolved from Head of Science to Science-Advisor in 2021.
Dong Qiu
Data Scientist
Dong is Data Scientist at Evovest. He conducts the research on improving the performance of Evovest’s equity products and models discovery. He leads the project of the Explainable AI Research. His strong mathematical background enables him to be an asset on the development and adaptation of machine learning algorithms. He joined Evovest in 2021. Prior to his current role, Dong was a Data Scientist in Moka Technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics from Sichuan University and University of Prince Edward Island and a Master of Science (M. Sc) in Mathematics from Concordia University.
Vanessa Vega Miranda
Head of Marketing
Vanessa is Head of Marketing at Evovest. She is responsible for the creation of the Marketing area and the development of sales strategies to increase the AUM of the firm. She joined Evovest in 2022. Prior to joining Evovest, Vanessa has a broad experience in sales, marketing and business development in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments. Vanessa was the City Manager at Foodology, a Colombian fast-paced start-up of dark kitchens. She started her career in Walmart Mexico in the Commercial Real Estate. Vanessa holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from IE Business School.

Michel Tremblay
Chairman of the Board of Directors
Michel has 40 years of experience in the investment industry and has held various roles within his careers. Graduating from actuarial science from Laval University in 1977, he moved on diverse portfolio management role. In 1990 he accepted a role as managing director at ING investment in Canada. From 2008 he held various positions within National Bank of Canada. In the last years of his career, he was the CIO of Industrial Alliance, a life insurer in Canada, overseeing over CAD 60 B in AUM. Michel is guiding our corporate strategy and holds the CFA certification.
Tamara Close
Independent Board Member
Tamara is ESG Advisor at Evovest. She helps us to achieve our ESG integration strategy within the company and in our investments. Tamara is a Senior investment and ESG professional with more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, ESG strategy, and leadership roles. She is the founder and Managing Partner of Close Group Consulting, an independent and boutique ESG advisory firm. Tamara holds the CFA certification and is a member of the ESG Examination Subcommittee for CFA Institute, a council member of the Canadian Advocacy Council for CFA Societies Canada.
